Things to do in Glencoe and the Scottish Highlands

With such a wealth of things to see and do here in Lochaber it can be difficult to decide exactly what to do each day! Many of our guests choose to stay for an extra day or two to allow them to complete their sightseeing at a more leisurely pace, strolling around the Glencoe Lochan - whether they choose to go touring with all the great places to visit or splash around in our very own leisure club here at the Isles of Glencoe.

Cruise Loch Linnhe from Fort William Town Pier on the Souters Lass or sail Loch Linnhe to Seal Island on this charming boat and see herons, oystercatchers, eider ducks, swans, seals and the odd porpoise.

Or admire this area of outstanding natural beauty and just laze over a picnic on a beach or mountainside enjoying the clear air and breathtaking scenery!

Spectacular scenery provides plenty to explore either by car, bike, on foot or by boat. The superb Lochaber Water Sports facility is located nearby the hotel and offers boat, canoe and bike hire. It also runs fishing trips and exhilerating 'Rib rides'. There is a 9-hole golf course, adjacent to the hotel and the Glencoe Mountain Resort offers various summer activities to partner the renowned winter snowsports resort.

Nevis Range, Scotland's highest ski area is situated just 17 miles away and for those after more intense thrill, only 6.5 miles from The Isles of Glencoe Hotel, Vertical Descents is a modern outdoor adventure activity centre offering a wide range of exhilarating activities including Canyoning, White Water Rafting, Fun Yakking, Bridge Swing, Paintball and Mountain Biking.

The Ice Factor is just 8 miles from The Isles of Glencoe Hotel and is ideally placed to make it one of the best places to learn about climbing in Britain. As well as being the biggest indoor ice climbing facility in the world, The Ice Factor features the UK's largest articulated rock climbing wall and a competition-standard bouldering hall.

No visit to Scotland is complete without a visit to a working Scotch Malt Whisky Distillery. Ben Nevis Distillery established in 1825, is one of the oldest licensed distilleries in Scotland, just 15 miles from The Isles of Glencoe Hotel. The Oban Distillery, looks out to sea from the town centre of Oban which grew up around the Distillery.
